Prayer
for National Renewal Day 23
(October 16, 2008) Rejection of Immorality God must reveal the wickedness of sin
before many people will reject immorality. Scripture for Reflection and
Preparation (HCSB) 2
Corinthians 7:1 “1 Therefore dear friends, since we
have such promises, we should wash ourselves clean from every impurity of the
flesh and spirit, making our sanctification complete in the fear of God.” Titus
2:11-14 “11 For the grace of
God has appeared, with salvation for all people, 12 instructing
us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous,
and godly way in the present age, 13 while we wait for the
blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus
Christ. 14 He gave
Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a
special people, eager to do good works.” 2 Timothy
2:21-26 “21 So if anyone purifies himself from these
things, he will be a special instrument, set apart, useful to the Master,
prepared for every good work. 22 Flee from youthful passions, and pursue
righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord
from a pure heart. 23 But
reject foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they breed quarrels. 24 The Lord's slave must
not quarrel, but must be gentle to everyone, able to teach, and patient, 25 instructing
his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps
God will grant them repentance to know the truth. 26 Then they may come to
their senses and escape the Devil's trap, having been captured by him to do his
